Predicted Complete Surface Melting on Greenland
Summer 2012, Box wrote 14 blog entries on the topic of Greenland reflectivity decline, trumpeting how his recently published paper that had predicted complete surface melting on Greenland was a premonition that came true as soon as it could. The media picked up on this fact, Climate Central correctly reporting on the tipping point detailed in Box’s publication.

Through Greenland’s 2012 record melting story, Box continued developing an exchange with eminent climate change writer Bill McKibben.

Because of the drama of the 2012 melt season and a number of exchanges between McKibben and Box, McKibben decided to write an article for Rolling Stone magazine. The article features Box’s Greenland albedo and previous work, including a correction to the Wall St. Journal article (now redacted) entitled “Rapid Ice Melt in Greenland Baf?es Scientists”
